Darek Asanowicz, PhD - principal investigator
Dr. hab. Dariusz Asanowicz is a professor at the Institute of Psychology of the Jagiellonian University, and the principal investigator of the BrainBeat Lab. He received his Ph.D. in psychology at the Jagiellonian University in 2010, and completed postdoctoral training under the mentorship of Rolf Verleger at the University of Lübeck, Germany (2013-2015). He is interested in how distributed brain codes can be integrated into a coherent conscious representation of the world, what is the role of attention in this process, and what are the neural mechanisms of integration between conscious attention and intentional actions.

Ilona Kotlewska, PhD - post-doctoral researcher
Neurobiologist and neuropsychologist. She received her PhD in biological sciences from the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology of Polish Academy of Science in Warsaw. Currently, assistant professor at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and lecturer at SWPS University. She graduated from the College of Inter-Faculty Individual Studies in Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Warsaw, where she successfully combined her interests in psychology, biology, and neuroinformatics. She completed research internships at the University of Barcelona (Spain) with dr Carles Escera and at the Leibniz Neurobiology Institute (Germany) with dr Andre Brechmann, where she conducted research on the perception of sound and one's own name.
She was awarded the Fulbright Junior Advanced Research scholarship for the year 2017-2018 at the Center for Cognitive Sciences at Dartmouth College (NH, USA), where she gained experience in computational methods in brain imaging and data analysis and investigated the mechanisms of recognizing familiar faces. She is fascinated by the work of the human brain, in particular the process of developing self-awareness and attention to the stimuli surrounding us. She specializes in brain imaging methods such as electroencephalography, magnetic resonance imaging and near-infrared spectroscopy.

Bartek Panek, MA - PhD student
Bartek is an excellent programmer, specializes in time-frequency analysis of EEG signal in Matlab. Recently designed BrainBeatConnect – an integrated tool for studying brain connectivity by integrating individual MRI scans with EEG data. During his free time, he loves cycling and reading nonfiction documentary literature!

Filip Kottik, MA - PhD Student
His academic path led him through veterinary studies and nursing, before he finally found his place in psychology—and now in the BrainBeat Lab. When he’s not diving into data analysis, he enjoys fishing (though even on the lake his mind often drifts back to neuroscience). He’s also the vocalist of a progressive rock band.
Rob van der Lubbe, PhD - External Collaborator
